- Greg Mockeridge (Cooperatores Veritatis) has strong words for Dale Vree and the double standard of Catholic apologists who defend him.
- I. Shawn McElhinney (Rerum Novarum) outlines Some Core Problems With Apologetics Methodology.
- On a related note, my own Toward a Proper Understanding of the Catholic Just War Tradition was motivated in part by positions taken by Dale Vree regarding the Iraq war debate, and the interpretation of statements made by the Pope.
As I demonstrated, Vree's "Bishop-Boeanesque" interpretation of papal judgements on the war in Iraq conflicts with that of Karl Keating, Jimmy Akin, Edward Peters, Russell Shaw . . . and Cardinal Ratzinger himself.
In light of which, the silence of certain major voices in the Catholic blogosphere and online community and a decline to publicly question Vree's erroneous conclusions -- if they are such -- is striking. (For which reason I concur with the substance of Greg's article).
