- Responses to Some Questions Regarding Certain Aspects of the Doctrine on the Church. Rome, from the Offices of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, June 29, 2007, the Solemnity of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
- Commentary on "Responses to Some Questions Regarding Certain Aspects of the Doctrine on the Church"
I'd like to give the new CDF document a complete reading before I comment further but upon a brief skim, I defer to George Weigel's apt summary:
"There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW in this document. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a theological illiterate who equates ecumenism with political correctness. Period."As expected, the same folks who are pitching a fit over 2000's Dominus Iesus (recommended background reading, and which itself is but a restatement of earlier doctrine) are doing so now.
Beyond that:
- American Papist provides initial coverage with Reactions to/Commentaries on the CDF's Clarification Document; also, good question: Conflating document and commentary: bad reporting or poor releasing? - "Today the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith released two texts, but if you read much of the reporting that has gone on today, you would not realize that fact. . . . "
